2010 Citroen Metropolis Review – Citroën has unveiled the new Metropolis, a glossy and muscular concept car that pays obeisance to China’s remarkable development. Made by Citroën’s international design team, Metropolis will be showed in the French Pavilion at the Shanghai World Fair from 1st May to 31st October, 2010. With Metropolis, Citroën shows that a combination of Chinese and French sensibilities can generate a beautiful vision for the future.
Metropolis’ strong hybrid drivetrain uses an optimised 2-litre V6 petrol engine and a 7-speed dual-clutch electronic gearbox. At low velocities, Metropolis goes in Zero Emission Vehicle mode, generating a continuous 55bhp, and cresting at 95bhp. At constant speeds on main roads, the engine efficiently gives 272bhp and 375Nm of torque. When more performance is needed the car uses both the electric motor and the combustion engine to generate a maximum power output of 460bhp and 430Nm of torque. It is equal to a 4-litre V8 petrol engine.
Metropolis’ unique silhouette is a vision of creative and innovative luxury, reflecting the dynamism and also ambition of China in the 21st Century. Strong and fascinating, Metropolis’ subtle ‘Pearl Silk’ body color changes under different light situations, unveiling the model’s nice curves and ultra-honed detailing.
